Need to renew foreign passport?

Hello all!

My beloved has a Cambodian passport that will expire in June. He just got his 10 year GC in the mail a month or so ago. ( Yay!!) Does he need to renew his Cambodian passport for any reason other than if we would like to travel outside of the US?

We are planning on applying for citizenship soon, but haven't finished all the paperwork yet. He won't need his Cambodian passport to be valid for that, will he?

Thank you all so much!

Megan and Tee

The passport doesn't need to be valid, but you will need it for future travel. Remember that it's taking some time to get US citizenship. He wont be able to leave for any reason the US with just a green card.

Unless he has travel plans then he doesn’t need a passport. It’s useful to renew it in case he needs to travel somewhere urgently (for work or a family emergency).

It's always useful to have another passport, for travel purposes.

He may also be required to renew passport if he ever needs to travel to his home country.

ROC sent 7/20

ROC received at SCS 7/23

Check cashed 8/3

NOA1 8/1
