Documents shed new light on improper collection of absentee ballots in North Carolina congressional election

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Affidavits released last weekend by North Carolina’s elections board allege absentee ballots were collected from voters by the man at the center of vote-fraud allegations or those working for him.

These latest documents focus on last month’s disputed 9th Congressional District race, the year’s only unresolved congressional election. Investigators are looking into whether McCrae Dowless and others working on behalf of GOP candidate Mark Harris ran an illegal operation to collect a large numbers of absentee ballots from voters in at least two counties.

It is interesting, this is perfectly legal in California.  I wonder if it had anything to do with the Democrat victories there.

Vote harvesting is legal in CA.  As to evidence, I believe the Democrats control CA with a supermajority, so no one is looking.

I actually live not far from this district right now and it is not news here. The investigation started due to Dowliss's group harvesting votes which is Illegal here in NC. The investigation has since morphed away from that in to supposed changing votes. 

 

Also what has come out in the open is that he has worked for people the last 10 years from both sides for Get Out The Vote(vote harvesting) drives for candidates. It seems that both sides knew it has been going on for some time but hasn't cared because both sides have been doing it. 

 

The national papers haven't been reporting on the intricacies of the whole thing but the local papers have been. Here is a link detailing some.of the issues going on:

So this person is a political opportunist, nice to know.  For the record, I am not in favor of vote harvesting in any form no matter the political or apolitical bent of the people or organizations doing it.

Not in this district no. It is very widespread and VERY rural economically deprived.

I thought about living in Bladen County but decided against it because it is so rural. If something were to happen it's a long way to Fayetteville which is closest big city. 

 

The districts I am looking into is my home region in the Triad. Where the 5th, 6th, and 13th Congressional districts are, looking primarily at the 5th.

It wouldn't. But both sides need to crack down on vote harvesting
