Do I need to verify that USCIS changed my address, and what's the best way?

I've submitted the address change thing online back in the summer, and since then I've been kinda wondering if they did change it. I will be applying for ROC in the beginning of summer and don't want any screwups because the address hasn't been changed.

 

I just scheduled an infopass for January 8, figuring that's the best way to get information out of them. Is that a good way to go about it, or should I call instead?

My husband and I moved in May and I submitted my change of address right away.  Last week, I got a reminder from

USCIS that my ROC is coming due, and it was sent to the old address (but forwarded by USPS).  

 

A side note to that:  your sponsor also needs to file a change of address with form i865.  Neither of us knew that, so it was filed last week, which is super late.

 

I believe for ROC (or other applications) they will send correspondence to the address listed on that specific case.

Ugh. I mean, I know I should have paid more attention to I-864, but come on!

 

So... Did you also fill our a form for yourself to submit the change of address again? How do you make sure they have the correct one in all their systems?

When they talk about evidence in the instructions, that's just because it's a template that they minimally tweak for different forms? Because I can't find what evidence they require.

I think so.  We didn’t add any evidence with address changes.

OP, Cryssiekins is talking about I-865 form , Sponsor's notice of Change of Address. Not I-864, Affidavit of Support

 

AR-11 - for an alien, submitted on-line.

I-865 - for US Citizen, had to be mailed.

Have your US Spouse  submit I-865. You should receive a I-865 confirmation also by mail. Usually it takes about 2-3 weeks.

 

It's reported here that some people were having troubles with receiving Notices from USCIC due to the address change. Including myself. Despite the fact we both had our confirmations (AR-11 & I-865) , and the address change got updated in the USCIS system, Letters from USCIS kept coming to the old address. 

 

So, I would advice, when it's time for ROC, just include AR-11 & I-865 confirmations along with your I-751 submission.

Also, you can file with Post Office change of address - in this case if something arrives to your previous place, it will be re-directed to your new address.

If possible - keep in touch with people, currently living at your previous address. And let them know there could be correspondence , still coming with your name on it.

Yea, I always do address change with USPS when we move, but I think mail forwarding that comes with it only works for 1 year, and by the time we file for ROC we will have been living at the new place for 10 months 😕  That's why I'm trying to figure out if I should go to infopass and have them look up what address they have in their system(s) for me.

 

So the confirmation of AR-11 submitted online would be just a printout of the email I got? And when we send I-865 it's just that one form in the envelope, right?
