I have heard that within the US Coast Guard say this is not the case for them and they are concerned about what will happen. 25% of the government may seem small, but none the less people will be affected.

Yep you are correct. This is because they fall underneath the authority of DHS and not DOD.

I don't think we will see action from the house until Nancy takes the gavel. I am not sure how many days it takes for swearing in and finding your desk and all that, since Friday probably. Who knows if the President will veto. 

 

It doesn't surprise me, the Ryan Congress hardly got anything done in two years with both houses and the White House, why would they start now.
