One of my mangers wanted me to fax something to someone the other day. I told him, they live in a place that does not use a Fax. He said where ? I said 2018. Thats when it started

This cracks me up.  My doctor insists on a fax, won't accept nor send a scan via email.

Why can't offices get with the times?  Someone once told me a fax is more secure.  I got a blank look when I asked them if they knew what a VOIP phone was, and the concept of being able to send and receive anywhere in the world.  A fax is only as secure as the sender is honest.

I had to laugh at a conversation I saw on Reddit with young people saying they might return to Facebook if it had cool features like customized home pages, blogs and the ability to share art and music.

oh my goodness. ah the early days of social media, kids these days just don't realize there were some good things back then.

Just hope you don't have children because they will make you feel ANCIENT. My oldest is almost 12 years old now and has asked me things like "When you were younger did they have XXXX?". Usually it is something that has been here for many many years before I was even born. They make me feel so old at 35 that it is crazy.

Btw I am just glad that social media was not big when I was in the Marines until after I got married. OMFG would I ever been in deep dodo.

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

No doubt, my company finally moved out of the Stone Age and started using an expense reporting system that allows scanned/attached receipts instead of requiring them being faxed.

I don't have any social media. I'm not sure why, but people who I never call, email, text or communicate with in any other way except when we bump into each other always tell me I should get on Facebook. It just seems like a lot of effort to set up a social media account so I can have one more way of not communicating with someone.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm also 35 and my step son is 12.

As far as social media goes I have never been on any of the platforms except for Facebook. That is because my wife created an account for me the first time I went to the Philippines so I could talk to her family. Now I have over 300 Filipino friends and I don't know who half of them are lol. I could be wrong but it seems to me like Facebook is an even bigger deal in the Philippines than it is here.

I know how you feel half my wife's family has tried to add me at some point in time and she has a BIG family. It's like they want to have a Kano on their friend list even if they don't know him.

Here is how it normally goes when I get a friends request I don't recognize:

Me: Do you know who this is?

My wife: That's my sister's neighbors cousins friend. You should add them.

My birthday was last week and I got about 50 happy birthdays from people I don't even know lol.

My wife is the exact opposite. She says that is my sister's neighbors friend. You shouldn't add them because I don't talk to them that much. My wife is weird like that even in her own FB account. Maybe it's because we have already had extended family ask is for money before when she hasn't talked to them in years.

The only reason I have a social account these days is to keep in touch with his family that are completely tech adverse except for that. It drives me crazy why they cannot txt or call or even use a freakin' email.  Nope, they all have to message me for me to tell him stuff. Then I get requests from random family members I don't know. Oh, it's your cousin? Why are they adding me???
