To stay in the US immediately after the wedding, correct......But I caution you....there are MAJOR disadvantages to the K-1 .....

Read my analysis again......

MAJOR differences.   Whether they rise to the level of disadvantage is dependent on individual situations

YMMV

Bottom line:  You are not allowed to stay inside the US and live until after the appropriate visa is issued....although visits are allowed.

Ok so thank you all so far, I am forwarding all you have said onto my fiance....we are now thinking maybe bring us getting married forward to january.

So we can apply for the CR1 Visa, when would I be able to move to The States  and work after January? Would it be right away?

Maybe January 2020 but most likely even later than that

YMMV

On average, 12-14 months after marriage AND starting the CR-1 process.......

@Rebecca34 there is no such thing as an especific timeframe for k-1 or CR-1. Most people decide on their own circumstances. k-1 might not suit you guys, but it does others. And there are couple from what i followed here on VJ with GC in less than 10 months going the K-1 route (from NOA-1 for I-129F all the way to conditional residency). That could be possible also.

I guess our my main objective was to be able to move to The States the quickest time frame as possible and be able to work as soon as I arrived. I'm guessing that's the CR1 from response.

That is a major difference between K-1 and CR-1.....and one which many K-1 spouses complain about....the 4-6 month period of idleness after arriving......I have seen many K-1 spouses say "I wish we had filed a CR-1 instead".......I have yet to see a single CR-1 spouse say they should have filed a K-1.

you are right, but June 2018 AOS filers have 3 couples that have gotten GC before the 1 year lapsed from the NOA-1 for I-129F. North Carolina seems to process the paperwork extremely fast. For us it will no earlier than April 2019 according to our FO.

Yeah exactly. Really the only pro of the K1 is you get to be with your partner about 3 months sooner than a CR-1 and given the idle period directly after I'd say it's not that much of a pro after all. We're half way through the K1 --> Green Card process and already wish we went CR-1.
