Is the g-325a form still required?

Hello all! My name is Maggie,and I'm new here. My fiance and I are in the process of filling out our K1 Visa,and I was wondering if the g-325a (Biometric information) is still required? I'm from the USA,and he's from India.

Have you considered a CR-1 instead of a K-1?

K-1

More expensive than CR-1    
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)    
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 5-6 months)    
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 5-6 months)    
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period    
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.

 

CR-1    
Less expensive than K-1    
No Adjustment of Status  (I-485, I-131, I-765) required.    
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US    
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.    
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US    
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US. 

My Final Analysis:  If you can marry your fiance in his/her country or outside the US, CR-1 is a much, much better option

there is no fast and easy. if not for a pension i received we would have done CR1

Every couple has their own priorities, but the difference in processing times is only a few months, and the "green card in hand" time is MUCH faster with a CR-1....much faster......only you know what is better for you.......good luck.

That's true for a lot of places, but in our situation if we had married as soon as she arrived she would have had her GC faster than with cr-1. It's important when making a decision to consider the processing times of your consulate, as some take much longer than onters, and the I-485 processing times of the local office where you will be moving. Case in point NC=3 months or so to GC and CA= approaching 2 years to get a GC. Once you get it all figured out consider the fact that by the time you petition is approved everything could have completely changed with regard to processing times. Up or down nobody knows but the trend is towards longer waits for everything at the moment. Finish filling out your profile with your country and the state you will be moving to and you can get better advice if someone wants to look into it for you. @missileman does an excellent job of trying to save people from the shock a lot of K-1 recipients experience once they arrive and get married, but you have a lot of factors to weigh in making your decision.
