Any F2B here filling for Alien Relatives for over 21 yr old son

Have a question in here I’m already processing for 1-130 for my son who’s over 21yrs old single I file my petition 2 yrs ago now I decided to process my citizenship but I’m worry about my son wait more longer than as stay permanent resident. One of my friend told me there is and option to stay F2B of my son status if my son will sent OPT letter to the Embassy where we used to have our interview. Just trying to ask anyone in here who already experience like my case that even if I will be a citizen his status can stay F2B not into F2A when I will be a citizen already.I cant no longer wait  for my only son to be here in the US I’m gettin old and sick and I’m really scared to travel back home as I want too.So hope any of the members  here can share little time to reply my inquiry I will appreciate all your replies Thanks and Merry Xmas to you all and God bless 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

Hi,

 

Once you become a US citizen, your son's case automatically goes from F2b to F1.  He can write to the NVC to retain the F2b category.

It will be about another 5 years before his PD becomes current.  There is no way to know if the F1 or F2b would be faster at that point.  It would be wise to hold off on asking for retention of the F2b category in case the F1 category starts to run faster.

Ok thank you for the reply as was I thought on the processing timeline the F2B is much shorter compare the F2A. Thanks once again for the reply much appreciated
