As a practical matter, I would opt for a courthouse/JP wedding and save my money for AOS.   You can always renew your vows at a later date.....

Congrats ! :)

I  am Cuban American actually and we know how to have a party, because of these family traditions is  why I am feeling sad to not have a wedding that fits into what I envisioned but in my case my family is small, we will probably go for a smaller ceremony and have a get together at home.

Thanks for commenting ! :)

AHH! Yes, I am sure!!! :)

I can also say from my experience, not a single person who attended our ceremony/reception a year later was even the tiniest bit less excited or less happy for us... or less ready to party! However you end up doing it, it will be totally special to you guys and you will look back on the memory and be happy, and that is the most important thing.

Even in Morocco the imam is more of a witness to the wedding

all the papers for marriage are done with the police,  judge and county clerk

Islam marriage is more of a contract between u 2 than a religious ceremony

also a muslim man is not suppose to set foot in a church

read this on marriage in morocco as u will see it is the state (Morocco) that offical is in control of marriage

https://marocmama.com/get-married-morocco/

BTW any marriage celebration should be done with several beautiful moroccan dresses

the full treatment of someone coming to do hair and makeup

next the henna

and the the meal of dates and milk

This. We did courthouse 2 hours after he got off the plane lol to fulfill the requirements and filed AOS about a month later after I added him to accounts and bills and stuff to get the greencard process started.

Did a church wedding 7 months later when we could prance around in fancy clothes.

When we filed for our marriage license at the courthouse they said we had to wait at least 24 hours before getting married.  Guess it is obviously not the same everywhere.

It seems like he's adjusting rather well, that's awesome, has he been able to attend college courses? I am assuming this can happen once AOS is done?

He hasn't yet but it's something we are starting to look into. He's still not sure what he wants to study.

If you are going through the visa process and will be interviewing in Casablanca, Morocco, join us over at the

We had our wedding in my dad's backyard. There were maybe 30 people there. Our friend is ordained, and we had the dogs with us. It was lovely. Sometimes I wish we had done a private ceremony after he arrived, but we wanted to wait for all of our parents to be there.

Sounds like my type of wedding, nice and relaxed and fun with few family and friends.😀

Fancy 😂 but hey you're married and survived this process, that's what counts.

We are planing on an elopment with a nice photographer and a fancy outfit, we'll get rings and exchange vows in front of his 2 best friends lol. Then we'll head to a bar for drinks until we both are wasted and maybe some months later we'll do a BBQ with everyone to celebrate. My perfect kind of wedding lol.
