"wait until the Priority date becomes current" -- wondering what this means?

This whole process has been so confusing with all the jargon and such.. can someone please tell me what "wait until the priority date becomes current" means? Our priority date is Sept 29 2018.. and that has clearly already passed.. so how can the date become current if it has already happened?

Thanks for your help!

You filed an I-130 on September 20, 2018.

Priority Date does not matter when the petitioner is a USC.  A Priority Date is only relevant if you are a green card holder.

Less than 3 months is has passed since you filed, so it's not surprising that you have not heard anything beyond receipt of the I-130.

Are you a US citizen?

My husband is a US citizen.. he's the one who filed on my behalf.. but I've been reading the forums and keep hearing people talk about Priority Dates becoming current. Not sure what this means and was struggling to decipher it.

It's to do with the visa bulletin, but as the spouse of a citizen the bulletin doesn't apply to you.
