Messaging history for form I-129F

Me and my fiancée are filing for the k-1 visa very soon. We have read that we need to send messages of our message History. We have been messaging for a couple years on multiple apps. Any ideas on what we should do as far as what Evidence we should provide of our messages?

Not required for the petition.  You need to send proof of having met in person at least once within the past two years, proof of the petitioner's US citizenship, and proof that you are legally able and intend to conclude a marriage to each other within 90 days of the beneficiary's arrival.  Specifically, this includes any divorce decrees, as well as letters signed by both petitioner and beneficiary stating intention to marry each other.

This is a common misconception actually. Because most of time these messages aren't really good evidence at all. You need to provide quality evidence not quantity.

I didn’t submit any chat messages in our I-129f package at all. I sent in boarding passes from trips, itineraries from trips, photos together, photos of us with each other’s families,  and hotel bookings in the cities we visited together. I assembled all of this in a word document so I could explain what we were doing in the pic, when it was, where we were, etc. I also attached my I-94 proving that I was in the USA when I said I was. 

 

Another good thing to add to add in would be passport stamps. I had recently gotten a new passport at the time of our filing (and didn’t have my old passport any longer), so I had no stamps to submit, but it wasn’t an issue and I had no RFEs. But if you have passport stamps in your passport, include them!

If you still want to add message history to your petition, maybe choose a date (e.g. 15th) and attach a screenshot of messages sent each month on the 15th for the last year or so to show consistency. This isn't a requirement, but I still included some message history in my petition.

That means they are engaged. Idk how it is in your culture but in america and european countries you give the woman a ring for the engagement. 

I included a picture of my engagement tweet and my ring in my petition too.

yeah i know why you asked, because there are engagement parties and other traditional stuff that looks for uscis "too married", but since USCIS is "american", they are ok with this ring tradition (only for the fiance!) since its common for engagements in america.

We didn't have an engagement ring. I think the most important thing as others said to have a consistent, continuous relationship and try to include boarding passes, passport stamps, pictures (I wrote on the back the time and place it was taken). I also had an I-94 included just in case. Entry stamps from the places you went together, or when he/she was visiting you. Not everybody keeps the boarding passes because it might be needed for a visa. I clearly was not thinking that when we started to date...

 

For message history, we had e-mails and chats. I mostly filtered out the e-mails and took a screenshot of the list from every couple of months. You might adjust the timeline here, depending on how long you knew each other. Also included a few individual messages which seemed more important in the development of the relationship.(E.g how it would be to live together, picking out furniture, etc)  Do not include sexting and similar messages.

I don't know about you, but I really would prefer to keep my messages to myself and not share them with the US gov't (or any gov't for that matter). I would not include them in your package. They're not necessary for approval.

Agreed.  I also suspect that they potentially increase the time it takes to approve a petition, as well as the risk of RFE.

Do you think that by sending screenshots of messages that the petition will take longer to be approved (getting an NOA2)? Just wondering if this is based on experience since I've never heard of it before. 

 

We are about to submit our petition and was planning on including some screenshots.
