so i was j1 and then i applied to tourist visa, i’ve been waiting for my approval for 5months now. so when i get my visa approved for example this january  i dont wanna leave the country this january when i get my visa, so thats why i’m asking if i could extend while i’m still in the process for another 6months since my 6months is already on going.

Firstly it’s quite an assumption that you say “when”. It’s not automatic and sometimes people do get refused. If you are refused you will have been out of status since your J visa ended and have to leave immediately.

Then (I think I am repeating myself from your previous thread actually) even if that’s approved, it’s highly unlikely another one would be. A year on B status? I don’t think so.  I’m curious and I’m sure uscis and possibly the irs might be too on how you have been and plan to in future fund these very long stays in the US without working. You are not working, right? And you’re here on B status, so you’re not actually living anywhere either... right?

OP seems to have gone quiet again in the face of answers he doesn’t like. Wonder if he’ll repeat the pattern of back again in a few weeks.. given what he thinks is his current status is assumed to expire then.

One would think you have had enough time to do touristy things in the past 6 months that it’s now time to go home or to a third country. I’d expect a denial any day now.

if you are here on a B2 you are expected to leave by the date CBP stamped it, if you are attempting to extend that time and you over stay and it never comes in the moment you leave your B2 is gone forever an overstay by 1 min could cause an issue even hours causes an issue and overstay is an overstay...you should be making plans to leave days before your stamp says to ensure no issues for future.

If you overstay you will receive a ban and that will make  getting another non-immigrant visa hardat a later time.

You are probably better served in the non-immigrant visa section,  (https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/143-tourist-visas/)where you have already posted.

This is the CR1/ IR1 Visa Section.  Your not going to get any better answers here.

Are you trying to extend your stay? Those applications are not approved very often. If you stay & it gets denied (likely) then your overstay will count from the day you were originally supposed to leave. Your visa will be cancelled and it will be very hard to get another one in the future. You're better off leaving by the date on the stamp in your passport unless you get an approval before then.

You already asked these questions and got them answered, at least twice before. The answers aren’t going to change.
