It is interesting, for eight years President Obama was my president, I did not vote for him, and I did not agree with him on almost anything he did, but he was still my president.

Well, the difference is Obama, whether or not you want to admit, did try to be everyone's president. Trump has made it clear that if you are not with him, then you are the enemy. Ergo, he's not my president.

He did?  When did he ever cut my taxes, or side with a conservative approach to legislation?  President Obama had his own politics, had/has a giant ego, fought with the media, lied consistently, made stupid statements, jumped to conclusions without all the evidence,, and when he couldn’t get his legislation through, used his power of the pen through EO.  Not much difference from President Trump other than the delivery.

That couldn't be further from the truth. He was the most divisive president in my lifetime. He was still my president though unfortunately. Unless you choose to leave the country Trump is your president like it or not.

He may have been the most decisive Democratic President but I truly honestly fail to see how you can even compare the worst of what Obama ever said about people he disagreed with to what Trump says on an almost daily basis.

 

I've never quite felt so uncomfortable with a Republican President prior to Trump. I wish he had even a fraction of Bush Sr's class (may he RIP). People can disagree about politics without being enemies...I'm not sure Trump understands that.

Did you mean divisive? 

 

#25 was certainly in bad taste, but most of those quotes are just examples of situations where a great many people likely disagree with Obama. That is different than stating that those who disagree with him are his enemy, or they are evil, or they are dumb or any number of other insults that Trump throws at people and groups that don't agree with him or don't sing his praises.

 

As I said I'm not talking about a President's politics. I've had Presidents who I have disagreed with strongly on a great many things, but it's always been merely a difference of opinion. Trump makes it personal. Now certainly other people make it personal to him as well, but people did that to Obama and he didn't stoop to their level nearly as often as Trump does. Trump revels in it. It's part of his personality. Nothing something that is becoming of a President, regardless of their politics, if you ask me.

 

Could you imagine Trump writing a letter similar to what Bush Sr. wrote to Clinton on his way out of office? I don't think we've seen what Obama wrote to Trump but I imagine there are a lot of similarities. I just can't fathom it coming from Trump. Especially if he lost after just 1 term in office.
