Non binding wedding with visa in hand

Hi. My fiancee and I are planning a non binding ceremony 2 days before we plan on leaving the country. That means we will have our visas in hand. We plan to marry in the states right away right when we arrive. My question is will we get in trouble in customs or immigration when we're crossing the border? Will they ask at all if we did any ceremony whatsoever? Is there a chance they might not let her in because of it? Thank you very much.

Will it cause problems? Maybe not... Will they ask? Maybe... maybe not... could it mess the whole process up? Maybe.. maybe not...

 

You will find no one on here who suggests you do any ceremony in the home country before or after the visa is in hand. Everyone here will recommend you come to the US, marry, file for AOS and AP, then go back later and do a ceremony/party in the home country... but it's your decision to make.

I am sorry but this is such a bad idea.  Why on earth would you ever want to risk your partner's future in the United States? Even for a teeny tiny chance that they may or may  not find out...that is enough for me to follow everything to the T.

Don't risk it. Simply don't do it. A going away party would be fine, but no ceremony whatsoever, non-binding or otherwise.

Agreed with all the others - do so at your own peril. You may be fine. You may be denied entry.

It seems unwise to risk all the money and time spent on the process so far, even if the risk is fairly small.

Also sure, they might let her in.

BUT if this ever comes up - and trust me, it will, they might

- Deny and deport her on AOS stage.

- Deny and deport her on ROC stage.

- Or Deny and deport her on Naturalization stage.

 

But go ahead and risk it. No one here actually care.

Why are you asking this? If you don't know the answers to your own questions, I wouldn't recommend doing it. 

 

Will they ask when you enter the country? I really doubt it, but you never know. Is there a chance they might not let her in because of it? Yes,  there is a very small one.

If you keep your mouth shut about it you can probably get away with it.

 

But is it a risk you are willing to take? To get to the finish line and possibly mess it all up at the very very very end?
