geowrian is right. The requirement for married-based naturalization is being married and having LPR in the last 3 years at the time of application. It DOES NOT matter how they obtained their LPR status in the first place

Bottom line is you keep posting incorrect info. Method of obtaining green card is irrelevant. Length of residence and length of marriage to USC is - as geowrian is trying to tell you.

Bottom line is that the OP is now married.  They are now eligible to file the N400 under the 3-year rule due to their marriage.

Nope. If that were true, divorced LPR's who got their status through marriage would be allowed to apply under the 3-year rule. They are not. The method in which LPR status was obtained means nothing.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I migrated to the United States as a nurse, January 2017 and married my US citizen boyfriend of 4 years in February 2017. Had to delay the wedding just to avoid any complications with paperworks in my EB3. So we got married a month after I got to the US.

 

From what I gather based on the responses, I qualify to start applying 3 years from date I obtained my green card.

Yes, you're actually eligible to apply within 90 days before your 3rd anniversary. Beware of months with 31 days tho since you have to count them if you choose to do so during that time frame.

Does the original, conditional 2 year green card through the CR-1 grant you LPR status? If the removal of conditions is delayed and you need to get extension letters, does the extension letter count towards the 3 years?

 

Or, in other words, if I enter the US to be with my wife on a CR-1, from the moment I'm on US soil, does my 3 year countdown begin?

i just turned out citizen yesterday 😉

My case is really tricky for me before, I was prepare for nutrulaization but no glue on any websites. now of course I believe it is not that hard to guess so. I and my husband were green Card holders at the time of my entry to the United States. But then my husband became a citizen after few months. Even though I have lot of family members here they don’t know anything about this at this point. So I started to look around information online but no evidence or details about this type of issue. My family and some immigration attorneys thought that I have to wait until 5 years. But I wanna clarify my doubts. So I wrote a message for a free attorney advice forum. So I can get at least the basic information. From that only one attorney advised me to apply in 3 years category. And you know that we can apply before 90 days early window( it’s important that you count exactly 90 days before your eligibility date, no 3 months) So I  did on July 13th, 2018 through online and paid $725 application fee. I submitted all the documents everything online and the next two days they sent a letter for biometric appointment, around 08/02/18  I went to the appointment. Then October 15 th they sent a letter for My naturalization interview letter and interview held on 11/20/2018 mount laurel office New Jersey. So I went there yesterday it was really smooth and enjoyable process. Truly I was nervous and scared about the interview but in person wow it was nothing if you studied those questions and basic English knowledge is enough. You have to read a sentence and you have to write a sentence that’s all for English test. Civics you should answer 6 out of 10 question. That’s it. 

After passed the exam they gave me a letter that they congratulated me and informed about my oath ceremony. This is the biggest surprise for me....! Can you guess? Yeah of course the oath ceremony is the same day evening... hahaha😄 never heard anything about same day oath ceremony. My husband’s oath ceremony was taken 6 months after interview. Mmm I’m lucky ☺️ 

so that is the main excitement about my application for naturalization. I hope this looooong description help somebody for something. Don’t give up your hopes and dreams ever 🤞

Technically, it starts from your date of admission at POE as a conditional resident. That may seem like splitting hairs, as that date should be the same as the "Resident Since" date on your first green card, but USCIS has been known to screw up the GC date. I should know; they did it to me.

True. It's the correct "Resident Since" date to go by.
