@John & Rose what caused your K1 to be denied. I am a nervously waiting k1 person & we keep reading about RFE but have not seen denials. Please share.

I answered the arrest question wrong. The agency I used told me that my 30 year old arrest where the charges were dropped and was later expunged should not be included since there are no public records available. They were wrong. We made it all the way through a successful interview (wife and step kids congratulated and passports taken) before we were refused during AP because “petitioner failed to disclose information in the petition”. It would have been easy to just answer yes and send the expungement paperwork. I felt I should do that. For some reason I didn’t listen to my inner voice and I did what they said. I accept the blame for this delay.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

30 years ago! my gosh and they found that...my gosh.  And the agency I bet hopefully learned something.  So sorry to hear.  I submitted a I134 about 8 years ago for someone, cant remember and feel lik it may come to haunt me because I don't remember the person's name. ..favor for a friend of a friend.

The agency has given bad advice to a few of us here.  They made their $1000 for mailing the package though.  Live and learn.  We have filed the CR-1 on our own.  I don't think being a co-sponsor will ever come back to bite you.  Did they get approved?  Are you on the hook for 2 more years?

The government's crime database has EVERYTHING!  They know more about us than we know about ourselves.  It would have been so easy for me to send the documents but I was intimidated by the process and followed their advice.  They make a boatload of money that way.

I think reading and talking in these forums are most helpful.  The agencies don't know much.  Folks like @Greenbaum are truly the gems in this thing because chatting brings knowledge.  Folks who use agencies are intimidated by form filling out not necessarily knowledgeable.

I remain thankful for all who share and those who share so freely without scar ism because truly we are here to learn and bring our loved ones to us.  Many thanks to all.

I hope that my mistake helps others.  I knew better and I take responsibility.  Hopefully we can show others that this isn't as hard as it feels and to ALWAYS be honest in the petition.

That is an entirely different situation.  I challenge anyone to give me more than one advantage of a K-1.......

Personally, I didn't want to spend my first year of Marriage living apart. While doing the K1 process he wasn't my husband so canI change my mind before he enters the US without any legal issues, but once you are married  if you changed your mind, you'd still have to get divorced.  That was my thought process.

1.  Being apart for this process is horrible whether a couple is married or not.

2.  The K-1 visa is an expensive "try before you buy" plan......

To each,  his or her own decision.
