Just keep in mind that there is actually only one marriage.  The second in Jamaica is a renewing of vows.  This has come up often here.  There are issues if you have two marriage licenses and two marriage certificates.  Everything is the same for the wedding in Jamaica but the paperwork will not be required.  

 

You complete the process of marriage but you are already married so there is no second "marriage".

yup...agree... i think thats what i said too...a ceremony in jamaica in like 2020 when we are settled and adjusted

Perfect!!!  There is confusion here at times and that was a legal issue for a few couples.  I'm glad you understand.

2) Sooner to be united in the US (was more noticeable back when it was taking only a few months to process).

3) Can start the process sooner (some people get engaged but don't want to marry ASAP, or cannot get the time off for another visit for x months to marry then start the process).

It was an amazing day and I am so happy that we were able to get married in front of Rose's family.  I believe that being denied the K-1 was a good thing.  I have a very small family and hers is huge.  Sharing that moment with them was very special.

But yeah, it's a sliver of cases where a K-1 above is actually "better"...usually it's the reuniting in the US that trumps everything else. And that's fine, so long as you know the drawbacks that come with it (working, traveling, potentially driving, longer to get a green card or naturalize, stress at home with somebody sitting home all day, etc.).

I agree, sharing the moment was very special. It was amazing having both of our families at our wedding.

Totally second this! We did the K1 and are currently waiting for his AOS, AP, and EAD approval. We are on day 83 with no word. Although it's a bit quicker than CR1 as far as initially getting here...it's a longer wait in the long run. Really wish we had just done the CR1 now...

You are 100% correct. Everything about the CR-1 is superior.  Yes. If we were denied we would not have been able to have the most incredible wedding with the most amazing people I have ever met.

@John & Rose what caused your K1 to be denied. I am a nervously waiting k1 person & we keep reading about RFE but have not seen denials. Please share.
