Heavy defeat for Republicans, worst since Nixon. They've now lost over 300 statewide elections in just two years. Thanks Mango!

He is also losing the plot. He attacked members of his own party for not backing him and he's screaming at the press.

It might not be enough. They have an increased Senate majority, and thanks to only having two senators per state, big or small, they will have a huge advantage in 2020 for keeping the Senate.

Say hello to permanent Republican party minority rule. 😓

I'm looking at the short term right now. Mueller is writing his final report and depending what comes out in it we could be seeing Mango being dragged out of the White House in a straight jacket.

About the Senate, it's heavily undemocratic. It needs to be revamped because it's wrong to have 30% of the country controlling/deciding what happens to other 70%.

Nice to see some face around that appeared to have fallen off the map come back into the light.

Sorry if the intracies of the government appear to upset you. Maxine alone should stifle your unbridled joy, but I doubt it

How did gerrymandering help the pubs pick up seats in the Senate  which has no districts but lose seats in the Congress that has districts?

Zero logic

It's outdated, plain and simple, land doesn't vote, people do. People in more rural States shouldn't have more power in their vote than people who live in populated areas like the city and Suburbs.

That's why the electoral college is so important.  Glad you finally see it

That needs to go to, it's archaic. One person, one vote. Candidate with the most votes across the whole country wins. Again a vote in North Dakota should not have more power than a vote in New York.

I don't think the founding fathers ever imagined that a state like Wyoming with a population of under 600,000 having an equal voice in the Senate as that of California with a population of just shy of 40 million.

The idea was to protect the minority from the majority, not just allow the middle minority to tell everyone else how they should live.

That is exactly what they imagined.  That is why we have 2 houses.

Actually, I think they would. You can easily put today in their context. Imagine all 50 states are independent of one another in terms of government and you are at the Convention to create a Constitution that will govern everyone. There is no way in hell that Wyoming would ratify the Constitution if isn't granted a check on more populated states.
