Hello,

We received our NOA2 and we are currently waiting for our application to be sent to NVC and then the embassy.

Here is what I'm aware what happens next, or what we should expect. Can you guys please correct me if I'm missing anything?

1- Wait to receive case number from NVC

2- Use case number to fill DS160 form and schedule interview at the embassy

3- Fill out I134 Affidavit of Support form (petitioner)

4- Have medical check and police background checks ready before interview

5- Have copy of NOA2 receipt and updated letter of intent

6- Have proof of ongoing relationship

Is there anything that I'm leaving out? Thank you so much for your inputs in advance!

I'd like to help if something is more specific to your Embassy but you don't list that in your profile. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

You're right. I will update it later within the day. The embassy we'll be going through is Kuwait. Not a high fraud one but not exactly a walk in the park either.

On the DS160 you need to put the USCIS receipt #, not the NVC case #. Also I didn't have to write updated letter of intent as the last stage of the DS160 had a check off box with that sentence "I, NAME, do hereby declare that I am legally able and will marry NAME OF THE PETITIONER within 90 days of my arrival..." blah blah.

With the NVC case# you can track your case and see when it was received by your embassy. The status would be ready and it will say you can now have the interview.

I had to wait for a letter from my embassy before scheduling the interview and medical but this varies by country.

So can we fill out the Ds-160 without the nvc number??

you seem to have everything covered if you got letter of employment,

My employer doesn't do letters of employment. They have a website available to the party that needs to verify my employment and income. Will the embassy go to this site to verify ? If I call HR they wont write me a letter.

Yes, you only need the USCIS number. But if you don't have the letter from your embassy you should wait.

In my case I couldn't complete DS160 without the embassy letter as they sent me a booklet that I had to read (required by US law). There was a check box on the DS160 where I had to confirm I received it.

No. The embassy specifically wants that letter. It's simply on letterhead from your HR stating where you employed at, what position, how many years you been with them and your salary or wages. That is how you verify current income

Yah I know they want that, but the multi state corporation I work for has this website setup specifically for that purpose. I called the help line today and asked for a hard copy , we'll see what kind of response I get.

usually a local HR has the possibility to write a simple letter like that, but every corporation is different. Where I work, they made a fuss, because i wanted and updated employment letter and the one HR person did not help me at all. I tried a different one and boom. Signed and sealed and blessed LMAO. It depends mostly who you talk. The corporate bank managers are also another headache on those letters. Made the jump years ago to a local/small Credit Union. Done. Good luck

You use the WAC #, NVC case number or leave it blank. All will work. I vote for the WAC#.

Thanks @Greenbaum that is useful to know it's available online.

In my letter it was said that IMBRA requires the U.S. Consulate in Bulgaria to send me this booklet. It was written in Bulgarian if that matters.

My point was that I had to confirm in the DS160 that I have received it. If my case was at NVC still or in transit and embassy hadn't received it yet, in theory I could complete the DS160 but this may leave a room for potential issue if the CO decide to be strict about it and say "Why did you confirm you received it before we actually sent it?".
