Updating SSN and state ID after receiving GC

Hello all,

 

I recently received my 2 year green card (AOS through marriage to USC) and I know I have to update my SSN to remove “only valid to work with DHS authorization”.

 

I also would like to update my state ID as it is marked with a “TEMP. VISITOR” status from when I got my state ID through DACA. My question is, would I need to physically have my updated SSN before I can go update my state ID? Or would my GC suffice to prove to DMV that the “TEMP VISITOR” status on the ID should be removed.

 

I am based in NY if that matters at all.
