how soon to receive U.S. passport (not expedited) ?

filed the first-time passport application((not expedited)) early of this week and was told it might take 4-6 weeks long to process the application. so wanted to ask ,in your experience, how long will normal case(not expedited) need to receive passport ? thanks

when i got mine done i did expedited and had it within a week or two.

 

when i did my kids it was not expedited and if i remember right it took about a month.

 

from what i was told, time of year can affect it too. near the holidays and spring are the busy times with people preparing for trips and getting/renewing theirs so sometimes takes longer

mine took around 4 weeks, no expedite also. Filed around this time of the year also

Just helped my friend get his last month, took just over 3 weeks from him dropping it in the mailbox. Think it took 23-24 days total. So 3-4 weeks is the norm.

The "Exp" column refers to whether or not their application was an expedited one or not.

 

I applied for a non-expedited passport book and passport card via USPS, it took about 2 weeks to receive my passport and the rest of the documents. It may be because there is a passport agency a state over, but even non-expedited passport take less than half the time they typically tell you it'd take. This is especially true during non-travel seasons (e.g. towards the end summer).

I applied my US passport on Oct.12, 2018 from passport center in our post office. The same thing the staff told me I will receive it in 4 weeks. I received my passport yesterday Oct.23, 2018. Today I received my Naturalization Certificate. So, it took 11 days only from the date of application to the date I received in mail. My passport is not expedited. I was so happy and surprised for fast delivery of my passport.

thanks for sharing your timeline. hopefully, we can receive ours by the end of this month. its been a week so far.

 

have you received any status email notification from the government regarding to your status ?

I go to Find your Application Status  after 7 working days on travelstate.gov  website to track my application, I provide my email add, last 4 no.of social security then it say it is on or about Oct.20 I will receive my passport. It gives me tracking no. too. But the day I check it on travelstate.gov my passport is already in our mailbox. So no need for me to check my email about the status of my passport application.

thank you for sharing more info. i did exactly the same things as you did and registered my email for status notification after 7 days of filing. they confirmed my case was received and is processed under Routine category and would take 4-6 weeks ...

but they didnt say more about when i would expect to receive ,or tracking#.

I sent my app on Oct 15, three days later my case was being processed and on Oct 25 got an update: "we  have finished processing your passport and it has been printed.....you should receive your passport on or about 11/03/18" and they also gave me a tracking number. so you should be receiving another update soon!!

 

P.S. I did not pay extra for expedite service

I applied for mine a year ago, received it in 13 days without expedite.
