Can someone please explain how this means we will not have to do another medical?

myself and a few others have interviews next week, sort of freaking out thinking we have to get POE...married..and AOS paperwork all done within 60 days of our medicals we have already had.

I know it said its valid for two years... but from my understanding that is only once AOS had been filed.

see below its saying our I-693 is not valid after 60 days

You will not have an I-693 medical form signed by a Civil Surgeon (unless you failed to get all your immunizations signed off at your visa medical)

.

You will have a DS-2054 medical form signed by a Panel Physician in your file.

The change seems to be addressing those who will 100% be required to see a Civil Surgeon in the US for a full medical. Example: those adjusting from work, student, or tourist visas.

In all cases, a Form I-693 signed by a civil surgeon more than 60 days before the applicant files the underlying benefit application is insufficient for evidentiary purposes as of the time of its submission to USCIS. The table below illustrates these scenarios.

Form I-693 Submitted to USCIS On or After November 1, 2018

When did civil surgeon sign?

I-693 retains evidentiary value through

No more than 60 days before applicant filed underlying benefit application with USCIS

2 years from date civil surgeon signed I-693

After applicant filed benefit application with USCIS

2 years from date civil surgeon signed I-693

More than 60 days before applicant filed benefit application with USCIS

N/A – I-693 not valid at time applicant submits I-693 to USCIS

Form i-693 is for people who do their medical inside the US. As a K-1 I assume you had your medical abroad, that means you never even had an i-693 in the first place.

I'm doing AOS and we send our application on July 5th 2017 and after it was rejected we sent it again on July 22nd.

We did our medical in April in preparation of our AOS. Now I'm thinking it might have been too early however I never received an RFE. Will I receive an RFE for the medical at the interview?

Greenbaum, please, help me sort the things out!

I respect your experience and value your opinion a lot!

Do we need to supply any medical related forms or documents while applying for AOS?

If I read the I-485 instructions, I take it as those who came on K-1 don't need to fill out I-693. But people around keep on saying you should go to the civil surgeon to get your vaccination record.

I had a medical exam in my native country as a part of my K-1 process and now I have a sealed envelope with its results and my vacation record (they gave me the copy of vaccination record, so I know for sure that the original is in the envelope).

The question is: do I really need to go to a civil surgeon before submiting I-485 or not?

If not, does it make sense to send the sealed envelope with other evidences while applying for AOS?

Just so there is no confusion under these new procedures they do not change anything for the K-1 visa. You will still follow Embassy instructions and current Medical protocol and once in the US you will complete your AOS with the inclusion of the DS-3025, which for a K-1 trumps the I-693 requirement in most cases. Now, if for whatever reason your DS-3025 is not complete then you will need to see a Civil Surgeon to have them complete the vaccinations and to transpose the DS-3025 to the I-693 which will require a separate payment to the CS.

I understand that we don't need to redo the full medical exam, but from my understanding we still need to find a Civil surgeon to transcribe our DS-3025 unto i-693. which might only cost $30 depending on the CS you find.  I was only going to CS to transcribe his medical unto i-693.  i wasn't planning to do full medical again.

My fiance took his medical September 4 and his POE is October 31, by the time we file AOS it is well over the 60 days mark, I think the i-693 still applies to us, right?

That is probably what you'll need to do. It's what we did. My wife went to Walgreens and got the shot for $10 and got a receipt stating so and then she called around to different CS and found one that would transpose the DS-3025, flu shot to the I-693 for $65.00. It's best that you call around and ask because some will do it and some will try and sell you a whole new medical for $250. Don't need IT!

Then a waiver must be coded on that immunization form in the last column.

F meaning Not flu season.

Shots or waived shots are supposed to be fine. Your interviewer could tell you something totally different because they are all over the spectrum when it comes to reading and understanding their policy manual. I would wait until an interviewer tells you exactly what they want.

:reading:This policy is fairly NEW with no clear answers. I re-read the policy like 5 times and I concluded that submitting DS-3025 is enough for my case.

Based on the below statement from the policy, the i-693 form doesn't apply to K1 applicants....UNLESS they have incomplete vaccination sheet. They should really have a kid version of these policies so we(over thinkers and worries) can actually understand and comprehend them. talk to me like I'm 5 damn it!

1. you took medical overseas and you took all your required vaccinations??? Good boy....you may submit ds-3025:thumbs:

2. you took medical overseas and didn't complete vaccinations? Bad boy, go see and civil surgeon and submit i-693

3. Flu shot taken during flu season - DS-3025, etc........

As others have said here, there's no real big change to K1s. However whether a K1 will need to eventually send or offer a I-693 will all depend on the officer reviewing your file. For instance there are numerous times K1s are asked to send an I-693 with the excuse that they were ''incomplete''. This broadly worded letter doesn't reveal the actual truth. Yes some may be incomplete depending on circumstances, but others simply have a case where the officer isn't familiar with K1 rules or the USCIS lost your DS3025 or couldn't be bothered to look for it. You'll never get a straight answer. Such was what happened to us, but it's easily remedied by finding a US-CS that will transcribe cheaply, and clarifying in a letter how a K1 AOSer workers by showing them their own rules.
