Taking medicaid for pregnant wife a violation of affidavit of support?

OP, go check and get confirmation with Medi-Cal as they have many option for free/reduce medical insurance benefits. I think your wife should be fine as California is very different from many other states in regards to the I-864.

 

While I use to be rigid on this issue (in regards to personal responsibility/planning for having a child), I've taken a softer tone as the child will be a US citizen no matter what. Your child will hopefully grow up and be a contributing member to our society. I'm also is being selfish in that the younger generation will ultimately pay for my retirement (SSN/Medicare).
