I don't think so))) Who is on first? ))))))))

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

Hi, it actually depends on the embassy/consulate who will review your case. I had a K1 interview in Manila 3 years ago and there was this couple before me who took 2 hours for the interview to be completed! (The guy was, I think 20-30 years older than the girl) No judgment. And my interview was just 5 minutes! Ayayay. I am sure if you guys can prove that the relationship is legitimate, you dont have to worry at all! :)

They may scrutinize a bit more given that he is quite young. Just give them tons of evidence. Best of luck to you two!

Hey Everyone,

We just sent our I-129F packet last week and just waiting to hear from them anytime soon. My fiance, the petitioner is 10 years younger than me. Will it be an issue since the guy is younger than the woman and he is the petitioner? This kinda bothers me if it will be a red flag.

It depends on his country

A 10 year age gap is not that much of a difference..I am 10 years older than my husband and we went through, what some like to call, a difficult embassy (Nigeria)...However, we had very good quality evidence to prove a bonafide marriage and we were approved. OP you should be okay, just make sure to have good, credible evidence to back your relationship.

If he were from. Morocco, Ghana or Nigeria you'd have an uphill battle.   As long as it's otherwise solid, I doubt it'll be an issue  10 years isn't that big of a gap.

That really isn't that big of an age gap. I think it depends on the consulate. I was the petitioner, female and 11 years younger than my now husband. Ours was London, UK. The age difference was never even brought up so I'm sure you're fine. A red flag would be more like a 30 year age difference.

For the Philippines even a 30-year age gap is not that unusual 😄

It it all depends on the local customs. I am from the U.K. and 8 years younger than my husband. That has always seemed like a big age gap to me. But in other countries age gaps of 20 years and more are not unusual.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!
