Age difference

Hey Everyone,

We just sent our I-129F packet last week and just waiting to hear from them anytime soon. My fiance, the petitioner is 10 years younger than me. Will it be an issue since the guy is younger than the woman and he is the petitioner? This kinda bothers me if it will be a red flag.

Large age difference are a red flag.  But as long as you guys can prove you don't mind the age difference in the interview, i think it will be fine.

 

But yes, i believe it will be a flag to the consular.

It all depends on the consulate.  My husband and I are 30 years apart in age, and there wasn't an issue with the consulate in Rio de Janeiro.

Thank you all. I guess it's just a matter of proving them that what we have is real despite the difference in our age.

10 years isnt much of a gap (unless one of you is really young). Most consulates won't care. For some, it is more of a red flag. Without knowing which consulate you are using, it's hard to say much else.

Hi! I was in the same situation, I'm 10 years younger than my wife, we had an RFE for evidence about an ongoing relationship for the past 2 years, but I guess it all depends about who review your case. Think our problem was that the proofs weren't dated. Keep gathering everything (plane tickets, hotel reservations, etc) that has your names and a date on I, just in case you have an RFE. But despite that RFE everything went well and it wasn't an issue to get the K-1 visa.

Complete your timeline.  Without that it is almost impossible to answer any questions.

Nope! Shouldn’t be an issue.  I’ve seen cases where the woman was almost 20 years older than the man.  Don’t stress.  10 years difference is nothing to be alarmed about.

And it makes a huge difference which consulate you will be interviewing at...

I am 12 years younger than my fiance, we didn't get any RFE on our I-129F.

Headed to interview on the 30th.

I really don't think they'll see it as a problem, we've been in a relationship for five years.. we love each other. End of.
