I'll be filing in October. I don't have a time limit or frame. I could have filed in September for that matter. I am a long term green card holder. Since 1996.  I am just so very nervous about the whole thing that I keep pushing it up. 😧

Next week, I'll do it next week. Sigh.

I got all the docs, its just the actual doing it. I already have it all loaded up online.

I am going to be a wreck all the way through.

Procrastination is my middle name 😁

How does that work then? Do you keep getting your green card renewed every 10 years? That was my original plan, but the long wait on my current application has been very off putting. Plus, I want more rights, security and I want to vote. :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current status: UK and USA citizen

12-Mar-19: I-751 (WAC18026) + N400 combi interview

Outcome

16 Mar-19: I-751 ~ Green Card in Hand (from submission to card delivery, 17 months)

19 Apr-19:  N400 ~ Naturalization Oath Ceremony, certificate in-hand! (from submission to oath, 6 months)

1 May 19: Voter registration card in-hand

3 May 19: USA passport in-hand

11 May 19: New SSN card in-hand

Yes, pretty much what I been doing. I actually just filed the for renewal in August. I just didn't want to be without a green card, even when filling for N-400 soon after. I had the 2 year conditional one first and in 1998 my first 10 year green card. I am just ready to be a full member of this country. Security yes. Also I right to vote. I been in the US as an adult now much longer than I have been in my original country. I feel more in tune with America than my birth country.

Its just time.

When you know, you just know, eh? I'm glad this is the right time for you. Congratulations on getting to this point and best of luck with your application.

Just out of curiosity, how long did it use to take to get the 10 year green card? The current wait time is up to 21.5 months.

Thanks. Not just to get over my fear and anxiety and hit that button. 😬

The first time I think it took like 3 months. Back in 1998 to remove conditions. Then in 2008 it took I think if I remember right about 4 or 5 months? I don't remember exactly, but it wasn't super long.  I filed the I-90 again in August this year, did my biometrics and they put a sticker on my green card to extend til August. I don't have a passport anymore. Haven't had one  in 10 years.

Green card would  have expired in January. I am in San Antonio, so I expect everything to take long now after reading the forums here. And holy moly did the prices go up on stuff.

I did all my stuff back when without the benefit of forums or google or computers. I wish I"d had all this info then.

I will be too. My 'goal' for this application is to submit twice as much evidence so they would hopefully approve my i-751 before the N-400. avoiding the combo interview. but im pretty sure that wont ever happen. im gonna try anyway.

Great minds think alike! that's exactly what i have done too but from my scouring of this site there is no way to escape the combined interview with spouse once we file N-400. It is highly unlikely we will get automatic approvals from CSC at this point

I went the other way! Well, sort of. I was relieved that the N400 didn't call for as much evidence, but I still gave a bit more. My thinking is that by the time the interview comes around, a lot of my evidences - bank statement, joint finances, mortgage, insurances - will be out of date. And of course, the biggest evidence needed for the i-751: evidence that we are in a lawful marriage - hence the invitation for your spouse to attend.

I've seen other members on VJ saying they brought up-to-date evidences ahead of their combi interviews, so I'm prepared to do that. Reminds me of my K1 interview at the USA embassy in London when I had to bring along a ton of paperwork. My arms hurt carrying it all and I had to find the right type of bag as there was strict security around what could and couldn't be taken into the building.

Hope the 1-751, or combi or stand-alone N400 won't be as stressful. If it ever happens!

LOL! I hear that. I bellowed most of my K1 interview through a glass partition that the officer sat behind. It was summer and the embassy air con had broken down, so they'd put in these ginormous and noisy fans. I could barely understand what I was being asked. I'm sure the 100 people or so in the waiting area behind me were most entertained listening to me screeching the private details of my relationship. 🤣
