I once read in an article that soldiers can have their foreign education transcripts evaluated for free.. I don't know how true this is and if it's true how do I take advantage of it.

yes you do! Once you enlist in any branch of the military  and you provide your foreign education credential it would be evaluated by the Colorado State  University  International programs and that would be added to your military records by your recruiter. You can request a copy of the evaluation from your recruiter if you prefer but regardless it's going to be part of your official military record so you can access it anytime.

If you are looking to use courses for credit in a degree program, the university department hosting the program will likely want to review them as well to determine equivalency to their courses.  This is true for students transferring between US universities as there are no "standards" for content of courses with even the same names.

This is in your best interest since you want to be fully prepared for subsequent courses when they expect you to have a knowledge of specific concepts.
