For those who are military or married to military through the K1 visa, was there a military marriage checklist you used after the marriage? For example after getting married you have to get your spouse an ID, enroll them into DEERs, enroll them into Tricare, update your life insurance, update the marriage at the finance office, etc.

I'm just wondering if anyone had an extensive list or did they just use google to find out what the needed to do military wise after the marriage?

I mean, most of those things are common sense. We didn't use any checklist, my army husband just knew what have to be done. It's not that much stuff really. I actually think you listed all of it.

In order to get enrolled in DEERS, I did not only have to have my birth certificate but an apostilled one - I heard that there is a 50/50 chance you may be required to show that. If you still have time, I would suggest to get an apostille just to be on the safe side.

Other than that, two government ID (in my case Passport and Personal ID issued by the German government) but I heard others are not accepting any foreign documents other than the passport.

Each DEERS office is different. Some require a SSN and others don't.

which base did you apply for deers program? my fiance is in naf el centro... but it's a small facility and is mostly incomplete so he has to go to san diego sometimes to do some stuff. so we might apply for deers program in san diego. not sure if in nas coronado or amphibious base san diego. cause i would need to know if i need that apostilled birth certificate. thanks so much!
