I recently separated the military and attending school. I am currently unemployed.

I get 1600$ every month I'm in school and free tuition from the GI Bill. Additionally, I got approved for 10,000$ worth of grants (not loans) from my school.

So for this year I'll have about 30,000$ + free tuition. Eventhough this can easily pay living expenses for two people I don't know if it would pass an income check.

I have five years of W2s and Tax Returns above minimum income limit, but I'm not in the military anymore so I don't know if that even matters.

My Fiance is from South Korea, so I assume the embassy there is fine with cosponsors. I already got my NOA1 a month ago and I'm fairly certain my I-129 will be approved. It's just the next part about income that worries me.

Additionally I would like to ask.

If I try to apply without a cosponsor and they say my education benefits won't count for income, can I then get a cosponsor and extend the process. I'd rather not involve my parents if possible, but they'd gladly assist if it was the only way.

Your GI bill will count, the grants may not?  I'm not sure.

You'd show your income from bank statements or anything else that shows you get the GI bill.
