Hi everyone,

we are making plans to see where we should stay after my husbands interview in Juarez...... do you know currently what the wait time is to receive your passport back with visa after his appointment. We are CR1- wife usc petitioning for husband

The official estimate is 10 business days and that's about average I'd say. It took exactly 10 business days to get ours back. I've seen as little as 5 business days but nothing quicker than that. While rare, some people get unlucky and end up having to wait more than a month.

If you decide to stay in Juarez instead of getting it shipped somewhere else in Mexico then you'll get it 1-2 business days sooner. The embassy ships the passport/visa back via DHL overnight, which is quick and reliable throughout Mexico.

Unless you plan to use your visa immediately by crossing the Juarez/El Paso border then I'd elect to have it shipped to your home.

Question do you know if we can cross through the Laredo border with that passport visa? Or would we have to go back and cross through El Paso?

Once you get your visa you can cross at any border or point of entry (including airports). Some people choose to wait for the visa in Juarez so they can drive over the border. They then immediately return to Mexico and permanently move to the US at a later date. They do this because the creation of your green card isn't triggered until you enter the US on your visa. By immediately crossing the border at Juarez/El Paso they'll trigger the creation of the green card as early as possible.
