Where you able to get your social security number?

I am freaking out :(. We just came from the Social Security office and were told that my fiance's K1 visa is mismatched and we were unable to get the social.

We expect to send  our AOS package from k1 today or tomorrow. I assembled the forms w/ supporting documents over the last 2 weeks.  Once I  drafted the Cover Page it got much easier as it was Table of Contents for the entire package. Reminded me of assembling the interview package.

I am freaking out :(. We just came from the Social Security office and were told that my fiance's K1 visa is mismatched and we were unable to get the social.

I had a terrible experience too with my local social security administration. I should have checked the reviews of that office before going there, which confirmed the low quality of service. Unfortunately not all the administrations can grant the same level of efficiency.

I requested my SSN a week after coming with my K1 and in 3 months it never came in the mail. I called and went back to the office multiple times and I was never given the same answer about the status of my request. Each time a different story! I was first told it was pending, then I was told they were experiencing what they called "administrative delays", then that my request never went through, then that it was lost, then that I requested the number too soon, I was even told "I don't know" by a SSA employee over the phone. Very frustrating. In the end my I94 expired so they refused to look into it anymore.

I just let it go and requested a new one in the EAD form.

If your I94 is still valid you could try to go to a new SSA and explain your situation, but don't worry too much :)

Dropped off AOS Packet today along with EAD and AP. Have a trip overseas for mid-December.  is that wishful thinking?

I'm in a similar situation. I filed on July 29 and my timeline says I should be getting the AP right in mid-December. Hoping it won't go beyond that as I'm making plans for NYE.  😫

Thank you so much for this! I take it that you went ahead and got married and applied for AOS without the social security number?

We got the license to marry and will wait a few more days for the SSN. In the meantime I am trying to get through USCIS Tier 2 officers and see if they can fix the problem🙌🏻.

I wanted to get the SSN for my fiancé so he’s able to get his drivers license with not too much of a hassle.
