Hey

I filed my naturalization based on 5 year GC eligibility on July 14th 2018. I filed it online and I gotta say, for a govt website, the online application was pretty darn smooth.

Today I received appt for Biometric for August 6th.. But the estimated end date on on the May 2020 (18 months!!!!)

How realistic is that date? From what I'm reading the estimated end date is pretty exaggerated, but then I am also reading stuff in news that validates this long wait period. So will/should it really be 22 months? I was hoping I could become a citizen and go to UK next year to watch cricket world cup, without having to apply for visa :D

In Dallas it say 22 months also.  People write in and say that it won't take that long but I put my paper work in nearly 8 months ago and still nothing, just an email every two weeks to say nothing has change and that I do not need to do anything.

I wish it was sooner.

When I filed mine online, the estimated case completion time was 18 months.  My application/oath was completed in 96 days.

Most of the wait time depends on the backlog of your field office, and how quickly you clear background checks.

You might be shorter being from MN. Yes I in New York City said 9 months, then they mysteriously said 7 months from the date of biometrics...so who knows

I filed via mail because I wanted to make sure they received my paperwork.  Sometimes when you do things online it messes up - this is me controlling things lol

I have been told that Dallas is a long list of people wanting naturalization.

Of course the estimated processing time can change. Last month my case was updated to taking another month longer. When I applied, it was a six month estimate, now it's 15-16 months. Processing times across the board have been increasing. I applied a year ago this week and biometrics last August. Still no updates. At the InfoPass last week, they said hopefully by January. Be patient.

That sounds terrible.  Did you have background check issues when you applied for your green card?

Nope. It cleared back in October (now it shows it cleared in September). 100% totally straightforward case. No complications - not even a ticket.
