You can most definitely do it on your own. The majority of persons on this forum have completed their process successfully without a lawyer. All forms come with instructions so whenever you run into an issue, either search for the answer here or post and ask for help as necessary.

Thank you Bfree3. I will try to do it myself and keep everyone updated. I didnt know if I should hire a lawyer because my husband is from "nigeria" .  but thanks for your response. Your statement made me feel a little less scared.

If you don't have red flags in your relationship, it most certainly can be done on your own. Even for high fraud countries, many have been successful without the help of a lawyer. I suggest you read all the instructions carefully and ask questions if you don't understand anything. And reading cases similar to yours on this forum would be greatly helpful too.

I believe most people on VJ do it themselves. The forms and process may seem overwhelming at first, but they are definitely DIY for most cases.

Review all the forms, all instructions, and become an A student in them. Ask questions.

Nigeria is a very difficult embassy to go through...be sure to front load with plenty of quality relationship evidence, visit often, etc.
