Houston is processing 7/1/16 now according to USCIS processing page.

No, that’s the date of filing you should contact the USCIS for if you’re past that because they should have completed nearly ALL cases to that date. They’re farther than that.

Correct
We know for a FACT that people in February 2017 got processed and got GC by like December 2017. Something seems to have happened after February 2017 since we have yet to see any approvals with the later 2017 folks.

We all know this is inaccrurate, which is what makes me so irritaed.
Like we are all flying blind- not knowing when exactly our cases will be touched

I guess the ONLY good news out of this is if you manage to get an interview after 2 years of marriage, you get the 10 year GC and won't have to worry about ROC to get your citizenship. #sigh

I asked the field officer about this during our infopass appointment. Based on how the conditional green card is worded on the USCIS web site, I thought it would only be conditional if we had not yet been married for two years on the day the green card was approved.

She said that even if the conditional GC is approved after we’ve been married two years (which seems likely at this point), we still have to wait another 21 months and then file the i-751 during the 90-day window before the GC expires.

She also noted that a lot of people are getting citizenship before they get a 10-year green card because the I-751 takes so long to process.

They seem to be mistaken
U don't have to file I-751 if you get a 10 year- the whole point of the I-751 is to remove the conditionality of the 2 year and make it a 10 year
If you already got the 10 year, you don't have anything to remove.

but you DO have to wait the same time as everybody else - 3 years after you receive GC to file for citizenship.
Path is the same, just one less paperwork - Because as they point out, the I-751 is basically useless right now since it's taking so long and many have it pending whilst they file for citizenship.

I hope you’re right. It would be nice to skip the i-751 filing fees, especially since we will have to double-pay for the medical exam. It would also be nice to get a longer break than 21 months from the USCIS waiting game. I’m just not sure how to bring it to their attention when we pass our 2 year anniversary to make sure we get the 10-year without conditions.

Right, 8 months.

I’m working with the presumptions that 1) the Houston field office has stopped processing family based AOS in favor of other priorities, and 2) they won’t start again until another change in priorities such as a policy change.  Depending on what happens in November midterm elections, there might be a political shift that could drive a policy change sometime next year, but that seems low probability, especially for it to make a difference within the next 8 months. So I’m expecting that we will have passed that 2-yr anniversary by the time we get called to interview.

I hope I’m wrong.

Well I hope the November elections do something
This is utterly ridiculous. We want to bother our congressman and hope that makes a difference but we don't even have news that our application is ready for interviews so yea
Still too early for us

But I hope u're wrong!
Y'all deserve the GC after this headache

It shows 7/5/16 today. Why is the movement volatile?
