I want to imply the women in my University generally don't challenge themselves as much.

I think maybe it has more to do with your university than with women in general. Maybe your university isn't very academically challenging. I went to the University of Texas at Austin, one of America's finest public universities, and while there were a lot of women doing liberal arts degrees, most of the women in my sorority (yes, I was in a sorority) were studying engineering, business, or science. They probably outscored you on the SAT by about 500 points.

Maybe mawilson meant, why did it HAVE to be all of those together.

Exactly - I was just wondering why CherryXS had to limit himself to marrying

a woman of a specific religion, ethnicity or cultural background.

A lot of people nowadays would consider that bigoted.

It's about personal preferences too, for example on physical; some people may prefer blue eyes, some prefer black hair, dark skin, etc. It really is random. It's a natural thing to be attracted to someone with different appearance genetically. Not trying to be smart or lecturing, but it's just my opinion, well from my side. I like blue eyes by the way :D

Oh, I came here to be a slave.

My favorite activities a have always revolved around the kitchen, where I walk about barefoot. I have shorter feet, which enable me to get closer to the sink when I'm washing up, and always greet my husband with a twirl and a smile when he gets home from work, showering him with the many baked goods and delicious edible thingys I've created during the day.

Heh.

 small feet help too when you are on your knees cleaning the floor

you are funny !

CherryXS, I take you to be making an interesting point, but I'm losing it in the alphabet soup of your posts. Clue me in on the acronyms? The only unusual term I understand there is desi.
  • ABCD = "American born Confused desi
  • FOB = "fresh off boat" (admittedly archaic, but hasn't been updated)
  • CF = abbreviation for Dean's patented term

TN-1 is a visa type, not an acronym.

I knew what a TN-1 was. So basically, you wanted to marry someone Indian, a born-again Christian, but not someone who had just emigrated from India.

I don't know why you (and mawilson) drew this conclusion.

Basically, the (bad--BTW, it was given at my sister's Sunnyvale home in Nov 1998) advice from my parents was to consider marrying an American citizen; given that it is impossible for someone who has just immigrated to be naturalised...

What I specifically DID NOT want was an ABCD!

Getting an FOB spouse at that time would have caused me lots of headaches at any of the US consulates (and, as I lived in Atlanta then, the option of having a spouse living in Canada was also unworkable). Quite simply, I refused to consider marriage AT ALL until after getting my GC.

Following my parents' "advice" then (as it would have involved letting THEM do the search) would have only led to disaster.

So you wanted to marry an Indian, a born-again Christian, and attempted to fulfill your parents' wishes of marrying an American citizen, but, because you didn't want to marry an ABCD, decided to try to find an immigrant who had already naturalized. Finding that impossible, you looked over sees?

Wait, why does it matter about hearing the advice in Sunnydale? Why do any of us care about 90% of this? I'm confused.
