My USC fiancé has petitioned for me to come over on a K1 visa. We expect me to move around august/September this year. Unfortunately I have some debts in the Netherlands due to having to sell a house for less than its worth. I plan to keep my Dutch account and have the debtors deduct the monthly payment automatically. That means I will have to deposit money in that account periodically (monthly, 3- or 6-mothly, whatever is cheaper).

I am looking into Western Union right now but the site is making me crazy! At one point they say that you can't deposit into a bank account from the US and transferring it from Cash at a WU location to cash at another WU location in the Netherlands only costs 0.05 USD fee. Next I found a page where it says it costs 5.00 USD and it cán be transferred to a bank account. That ain't right

Has anyone transferred money (regularly) to the Netherlands (or any European country)? And how does that work?

Thanks guys. I will look into it.

For now it looks like the cheapest option will be just a bank deposit from his bank to mine. They charge 40 dollar per transaction, but if we do one transaction per six months or per 3 months it shouldnt be that much.

I third Transferwise - have used it for years; between multiple countries. Exremely reliable and the fees were always better than through my banks.
