Yeah I’m really hoping they can avoid this furlough. Hopefully Congress helps them quickly.

Congress is on 4th of July recess for two weeks meaning they will only have a week to put something together and need to act very quickly.

They have to work on the possible 2nd stimulus package as well.

Well we’ll see what happens. I saw this on law360.  “Law360 (July 7, 2020, 4:15 PM EDT) -- The chairwoman of the House AppropriationsSubcommittee on Homeland Security said Tuesday that a supplemental bill to address the U.S. Citizenship and ImmigrationServices' funding shortfall caused by the pandemic will move through Congress this month in an effort to prevent the furlough.”

I believe it’s because of the current spike of cases in Georgia. I also believe other Field offices will close soon in other states that have spikes in Covid-19 soon.

So as everyone might know we got a little beef between our lovely Atlanta Mayor Ms. Bottoms and not so lovely Governor Kemp. Bottoms signed executive order saying Atlanta is rolling back to phase 1 due to spike in Covid cases however Governor says  it's unenforceable that no local action can be more or less restrictive. USCIS being a federal building under Atlanta Jurisdiction, do they follow Mayor's or Governor's orders? This is hella confusing.

I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) USCIS Office are federal buildings so Mayor Bottoms does not have authority to close down any federal building. Only the federal government can. I don’t know why Atlanta Field Office is closed? So strange that’s the only field office closed in the USA. Maybe there was a COVID-19 outbreak in there office or maybe there just lazy and don’t wanna work on cases because they know there about to be furloughed Aug 3. Who knows....I wish they were more transparent as to why there closed? It’s very frustrating.

I called USCIS number not expecting any definite answer but what the hell i still did it - they could not tell me why the office is closed and advised to call back two days before my Oath Ceremony to confirm. Super annoyed.

I was randomly checking my account and saw my Oath Ceremony scheduled for July 24th. Let`s hope it doesn't get cancelled since Covid cases are on the rise in GA.

Congrats to you!
