I made out the check like it said on the form: U.S. Department of Homeland Security. I had to write really small to fit it all in! LOL.

Ours was from a joint checking but that's all we have. I doubt it mattered whether it was joint or individual for the payment purposes. From an evidence standpoint it probably helps.

Did you already send your check?

My 90 day window opens in a few days but I am preparing the package right now, im extra paranoid about leaving something out lol.

We filed a joint tax return the other day, im just wondering do they care if we made little to no income? I only found a job in October of last year.

I can't say I know the answer but I don't think they really care about the income amount as long as it's filed jointly. Some spouses don't work at all and they seem to do fine.

Hi Guys,

My 90 days window will start on 14th April. We hired immigration attorney - only matter of us signing forms but my spouse is currently traveling for work. Mostly likely our package will go out next week. Expect it to reach USCIS by end of next week.

Thing are not looking well for CSC filers unfortunately. I plan to go ahead and apply for Citizenship next year.

We only filed for 2017, we did not file for previous years as we had very little income. Do you think this will be an issue? Thanks

I-751 is not about taxes, but it is more about proving bonafide marriage. If you've enough other evidences to prove bonafide marriage, then you should not be worried.

I'd recommend to file 2016 even though you did not make much income. You would not know if they will issue REF or not. If yes, then it would take you longer time to response back.

I didn't get the impression they were asking about sponsorship. I thought they seemed concerned that low income would mean the evidence was of lesser quality. I was just stating that I feel it's more important to file jointly than worry about how much income is reported on the return. I did not mean to give anybody the impression that there is some kind of income requirement.

It is possible to file for previous years? How do you go about doing that?

Checking account being debited today for $680 so I hope that means package was accepted without issue. No sign of NOA1 yet; hopefully it follows soon!

How do you know your account will be debited today?  Wish there was some way I could find out!

Yes, you can file previous year tax. You can either do it yourself or go to any tax office and ask to file previous year tax. After filling 3-5 days, you can create an online account at IRS and order a tax transcript.

I would assume so since it got there the day before mine! Did you do a check or money order?

Check....is that what you're was?  Makes me nervous since I've had mine returned twice already!
