Hi everyone!

I'm waiting for my NOA2 at the moment. :) I'm thinking of boxes to tick while I do this and I'm considering getting my police check over and done with in the near future. I researched this step a while ago, but for some reason I feel a little unclear about things. If I'm filing the a k-1 visa (as an Australian citizen currently), do I need a police records check AND fingerprints? I'd love to know because there is quite a big gap in terms of cost (I'm okay with this, but I don't want to spend if it's not necessary). The info I can find is a police records check ('name only') being $46.90 and a police records check ('name and fingerprint') being $183.40.

I'd really appreciate it if someone pointed to the right direction and I'm getting mixed signs online when researching. I also live in Victoria. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. :)

Sydney embassy takes AFP standard police checks, but says fingerprints are preferred.. many Aus applicants have been ok with no fingerprints.. we chose to do fingerprints just to be sure, but those I terviewing o  the same day as US were a mix of to fingerprints and non... your call...

Also, we used Sonic health in William st for our medicals... just next door to Flagstaff station... appt available with 1 to 2 weeks notice.

Thanks for the help, you've been amazing! To play it safe I'll opt for fingerprints. Does that mean you opted for the police records check  as in the name check *and* fingerprint (which is $183.40 I believe) or just the fingerprints? Sorry for the silly question!

Yes.. the more expensive option  gives name check and fingerprint... follow the process on the AFP webpage and instructions... you will need to go to a Victoria police office to have the fingerprints done, then you send the prints and the paperwork to the AFP. not all police stations do fingerprints, but the instructions are on the webpage.  PM me if you need to.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it!
