I was a DACA applicant and got married to my wife who was a US.citizen. Hired a lawyer who did all my daca paperwork to make it easier to file for green card through my wife. So its been 2.5 months now and I still haven't received a receipt number which is strange. I called the lawyer and of course got the paralegal and said it takes 3 month for an answer. So I called USCIS and talked to a service representative and said you should have received your receipt number in the first 15 to 30 days.my question is now did the lawyer not send the papers at all.Did the papers get lost? Can you sue the lawyer for not following up on his duties because if  he didn't receive an receipt number after 30 days doesn't it make to call USCIS to see, if there a problem.what should be my next step, I also paid the lawyer with credit card so he doesn't screw me and to have a better record of the transaction. thanks in advance

Yes, you should have received your receipt number(s) within 30 days of the petition arriving at USCIS. It is incredibly rare for the arrival of the receipt number to take longer than 30 days, so I would definitely follow up with the lawyer and try to find out when exactly they sent the package. Unfortunately it's all to common to see posts here on VisaJourney where lawyers take a long time to send out the petition or even make mistakes in the paperwork.
