Hello All!

I am a Canadian passport holder, and I was in the US on an F1 student visa. In my sophomore year, I dropped out of school March 2012. My SEVIS was cancelled at some point, not sure when as I was never notified. In April 2012(one month later of dropping out) I married my husband a US citizen, but we never applied for an adjustment of status. In June 2013, we left the US and havent returned since as we live abroad. His family has visited us multipe times as I am afraid to go back and find out that I have a ban. At the time of entering the US last time while on my student visa, I had a I-94 which has a D/S on it and no date.

Do you think I have a ban? Should I travel to the US?

Thanks for your help

Looks like you may have indeed triggered a 10-year bar.
The easiest way would be for you to give it a try. Shoot for a 1-day road trip across the border, smile, and keep your fingers crossed.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I had a lawyer, paid him 4000$, he told me to apply for a waiver at the embassy. When I got to the embassy they said they dont accept waivers, and the lawyer disappeared, how lovely.

As for crossing the border, I can't, as I live in the Middle East now.

Thanks for you help anyways

Apply for a B?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
