Hey Dallas,

I had to wait - it was approved about 7 days later (although I didn't get a notification, so I just logged in randomly and saw my approval about 20 days later)

Congrats @Cowface Question for you on the interview, did they ask you for your US citizen spouses's Birth Certificate ? or will the passport suffice ? I've seen it mentioned vaguely in the requirements, hence the question.

I brought my spouse's birth certificate only. The IO asked about it but did not look into it.

Thank you very much to everyone in this forum , I got some great help and tips following your journey.

I applied in January 2018 based on a 3 years mariage already got my 10 years great card in August 2017.

My interview in Atlanta was in January the 8th. Went whit my husband but the officer said she didn’t need him.

went in got sworn in and was ask question’

 - Longest river

- how many senator are rhey

- capital of my State

- who is the president

- who is the Vice President

- what is an amendment.

read how many senator are they

write : they are one hundred Senators.

then she went over my applications and asked me all the yes and no question ( fun fact I was answering to some of them whitout letting her finish the sentence so she smile and ask me to wait and listen to them first).

she asked to give her any proof that I’m still currently married

I grouped all my proofs by categories and adresses of the past 4/5 years.

- bills

- insurance ( health and cars)

- Bank statements

- documents require on the letters husband birth certificate etc...

she then made a copy of my green card , passport and Id

told me she would recommend me for approval and when I left I look online and was approved.

Oath ceremony schedule for next week saw the letter online the following day.

note: even tho I had proof from 2013 ( 3 of each categories per years) seems like she mostly wanted to see recent proof, went over our bank statement and asked what payments was made in that account .

i wish everyone got luck and thank you all for you help.

I had my interview in Dallas this morning.

I handed in my letter at the desk, and surprisingly was called just after 8:20am. My interviewing officer was a younger woman, who introduced herself as Officer Williams. She was perhaps in her late 20s or early 30s, and kinda cute.

As I was still standing in her office, she had me raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth, etc. I did so. She then had me place first my left index finger and then right on her little scanning pad, and asked for my green card and state ID.

She then said she was going to start with the test questions. What is the name of the national anthem?... What is the rule of law?... What is the name of the ocean on the west coast of the United States?... What do the 13 stripes on the flag represent?... How old do citizens have to be to vote in a Presidential election?... What major event happened on September 11th, 2001?

She then had me read on the little screen in front of me, "How many Senators are there?" and instructed me to write "There are 100 Senators". I had a bit of trouble getting the stylus to work on the screen and so it looked terrible, but she just laughed and said no one else would see it.

We then started to review my application. Did all the Yes/No questions. Went over my lack of Selective Service registration (I had attached a status information letter to my application and she said she saw it). Then about an incident where I was detained for a few minutes by two deputy Sheriffs out here in the middle of nowhere (I had attached a letter from the Sheriff's Office indicating that no charges were filed). We then got into an issue over the oath, where I had told her that in my application I had requested an affirmation rather than an oath, since I am not religious and do not swear oaths. There is a provision in the CFR to request a non-religious affirmation with no proof required, you just ask for it. I guess it's not a super common request, that or she was unfamiliar with it, but she eventually worked it out and displayed the modified oath on the screen in front of me to approve. I had to sign a few times, and that was pretty much it. She printed me off an N-652 indicating that I had passed all of the tests but that a decision could not yet be made on my application. She asked if I had any questions for her. I asked if she was able to give me a sense of how it went, and whether I would be hearing positive news. She said that it looked good to her, but that her supervisor had to do a final review and that I would likely hear something within a couple of weeks. I thanked her and she walked me back out into the lobby, and that was that. I left the building around 8:50am, so about 30 minutes after I went into her office.

She was nice. We had a small discussion in the middle of it all about the new online filing system for N-400s. I asked whether she liked to new system compared to the old one. She said that the new system is better for the applicants, with it being easier to submit and review information online, but that from her end it is worse and slower. She said that if this was an older paper application we would probably have already finished, that half the time she is waiting for her screen to proceed to the next screen as it is somewhat laggy and slow.

My online status is "You attended your interview. You do not need to do anything at this time". Hopefully it will change to approval soon, and be followed by an oath ceremony notice shortly after that. Overall, it went about as well as it could have gone without a same-day approval, I think.

Congrats bud (in advance). The use of tablets indicate that Dallas has migrated back to online system and that is why is seeing progress in clearing backlogs. There was one gentleman on this forum who had indicated that he was advised of this by a Supervisor who interviewed him. Houston still seems to be using pen and paper.
