3 months and still no answer

Hello!

I sent the k-3 spouse petition in August and I've only received a letter saying they received the petition. It's been 3 months and still I haven't heard anything.  I check the status and it has not changed at all.  It went to the Potomac service center. I'm starting to get really worried. Why is it taking so long to get approved. Should I call and see what's going on?or are they backed up because of the holidays. We just had a baby so I'm anxious for him to be here already .

It took us 6 months in Nebraska. And 3 years to get the visa (read the story in my profile).

 

Anyway K3 is not being processed anymore. They are absolute. You should file CR1 (if married less than 2 years) or IR1(If married more than 2 years).

So the I-130 isn't being processed anymore? It's a different pettion now?

The I-129 will probably be administratively closed, and the I-130 will be processed as a CR-1/IR-1.....at least that is what happens often.

Congrats on the baby.

 

Keep an eye on similar cases to yours to get a better idea of processing time for your center and type of petition.. keep an eye on the i130s, not just the K-3 track.

As others have said the K3 visa is pretty much obselete at this point in time. There was only 129 of them issued in the whole world last year. So it will be closed administratively and become a CR1/IR1 visa process. This process is roughly about 12-14 months on average.
