Hi Hank! It's nice chatting with you again. :)  You always answer my questions back in the days when I am still doing my K1 Journey. :D My greencard is expiring this month but I have the extension letter. In which I'm in doubt to visit my family in the Philippines since I'm scared traveling with an expired greencard.:( And I know the ROC processing timeframe is between 12-18 months :(

My asawa and I flew back on here expired greencard WITH the extension letter without a problem, and came back without me without a problem. Just make sure you carry your expired greencard and your extension letter. Are you going to the Philippines before or after your new passport?

If you travel on your maiden name passport then carry your marriage license as well. You shouldn't have to do that if you go on your married passport.

Yes I remembered y'all immediately.  Glad to see all is moving along smoothly.

ROC was taking about 4-7 months "before", now it can be closer to a year.   Hopefully they will get a handle on things and get the timeline down again.

Ya I heard ya about traveling outside the USA with the expired green card and just the NOA showing a one year extension ... CBP & USCIS may know you are still good to go, but not so sure about checking through other countries.. many are not up to speed if you know what I mean ;)    But as Cyberfox stated, his asawa had no issues.

I’m planning to travel before my new passport.  I’m really thinking when is the right time to visit. Should I just wait for my greencard?

I’m still on the waiting period for ROC. With my AOS, I waited 9 months for my Conditional Greencard with no interview. Like what I said with Cyberfox, I’m thinking when’s the best time to visit Philippines? Should I just wait for my Greencard for a year or so? I’m just missing my family.

Understand missing family.. that is the truly negative part to all of this.

We waited until my asawa had her 10 year green card before traveling back, then when we returned to the states she filed her N-400 for citizenship.

Thank you Hank. And also, is the extension letter an acceptable document if I renew my passport?
