This is a link explaining some of the differences between taxes that Puerto Ricans (qualified US citizens) pay and those of full US citizens.

Horrible things happen to countries every day. Should we fix all of the world's problems? Should PR be entitled to full US citizen benefits when they are only qualified citizens? The discussion continues.

I have to work now (and pay full US citizen taxes on my income), now, so if anyone is still confused on the taxation and representation differences between PR and the US, or does not understand what QUALIFIED citizenship means, please PM me and wait a few days.

:jest:

I am not going to PM you on the "qualified" citizenship because it doesn't exist. They are by law natural born Citizens and qualified to hold the office of the president.

In Ww2 Hawaii was attacked and we did not say "another country was attacked" we said "America was attacked"  The territory status of Alaska and Hawaii during ww2 did not make them another country.

Puerto Ricans living in PR may not be allowed a jury trial based on PR law.

You are correct. There is no such thing as qualified citizenship. The law is clear. If you're born in PR after 1941, your American citizenship is a birthright (jus soli) according to the U.S. Constitution. Having said that, I can see how jus soli may be interpreted as the determining factor that "qualifies" one as an American, whether you're born in CA, LA, or PR. In that sense, all American citizens are qualified American citizens!

Inuit living in Alaska experience long winters.

The point is that Puerto Ricans may not enjoy all the protections of the Constitution while residing in PR.  Therefore their US Citizenship is somewhat qualified.  Balzac has never been overturned, so it is still in force.

Hawaii and Alaska were territories in ww2 like Puerto Rico. John McCain was a natural born Citizen from the canal zone.  You may not be a fan of McCain running for president or Puerto not being a foreign country but those are facts.

Russia and Racism were not apart of this thread.

So just like that you overrule a decision by SCOTUS?

I am not sure what this has to do with the discussion about treating Puerto Ricans as Americans.

You said that Puerto Ricans are treated exactly the same as every other US citizen, I provided an example where they are not.  Sure, it doesn't neglect the fact that we would help them just as we help anyone in need, but there is a SCOTUS decision that creates a distinction.

Yep, I am the only person here in CEHST that has ever gone off topic.

I said that Puerto Ricans are American citizens as are Texans, Floridians, or anyone who is born on US soil. Technically, I didn't say so. The Constitution says so.
