I've longed passed listening/watching the current POTUS antics. Politics is not entertainment to me, minus the talk shows parodies.

 

So if I choose not to watch, wouldn't that also fall under free speech/peaceful protest or does that only apply if we agree?

A rabid mob with Tiki torches screaming "Jews will not replace us" = ok with Trump as he stated it's their right according to the 1. amendment.

 

Players using sports as a platform to silently kneel in protest against inequality =  he gets his panties in an uproar with vulgarity , son of a female dog cursing.

 

Just some fresh meat to keep the dwindling base at heel and to deflect away from all his other current
failures.

Tax reform.
Infra structure.
Puerto Rico.

Once again it's not a free speech issue.  You don't have the freedom at work to violate certain behaviors

The NFL rules do state that teams "must" be on the field for the national anthem, so there were several teams and players that violated that rule last Sunday.  Will the league have the guts to fine them?  The rules also state the players "should" stand at attention during the national anthem, so in the case of kneeling, or whatever, the leagues rules are less stringent and most likely one of the reasons no one was fined when Kaepernick started his whole "protest" last year.

Correct, and this is why this is not a First Amendment issue.  Employers can create their own rules for their workplace, and last I heard all the players are employees.

So in the end what Trump should have done was suggested that league rules be changed, instead of call out individual owners to fire their players.

 

Of course in reality he probably had no idea what the league rules even said on the topic in the first place...just like he has no idea about how most of the rules for governing the country work.

Honestly with all this repetitive "It isn't a first amendment issue" talk, it makes me wonder what people think Trump was actually trying to do.

 

1. He wasn't arguing it was a first amendment violation

2. He wasn't/can't argue that the CURRENT league rules support firing players (because they don't, as we have seen in this thread)

 

So either:

 

A. He didn't have any idea what current league rules are (which wouldn't be surprising) and therefore was merely misinformed

 

or

 

B. He knew the current league rules don't support firing the players, and therefore was trying to bully/pressure owners into doing it anyway.

 

Honestly both seem reasonable and par for the course (pun intended for our current Golfer in Chief)

The irony with Trump is this: he has flaunted convention and norm associated with the Presidency and its leadership role at every corner.  He was just beginning to act "normal" by displaying leadership qualities during the last two hurricanes and now he throws it all down the toilet.  

 

 Now he wants to weigh in and tell the NFL what their employment policies should be.  Does he think for a minute how the mothers of these players he referred to as So3s  feel about his insults?

 

 He needs to figure out what the job of president should be, execute his core responsibilities and then circle back to see if he has any time to twitter obnoxious, useless dreck.

It very much is a free speech issue. The 1. Amendment covers me everywhere in this country. That may or may not get me fired from my employer who may not agree
with me but it is my right. The consequences that may arise are mine as well. Period.
At work, at home, on a boat, with a goat.
It is what this country was built on and what vets gave their lives for. I will exercise that right even if you don't like it. My 1. Amendment right doesn't stop at work.

The NFL makes the 'rule' and can change it. For your information and in case you missed it, the owners and coaches and players, the entire organization were united on this.
You can cry about a stupid rule all you want, doesn't change that Trump is wearing egg on his face by a united NFL.

It's ok for nazis, it's not ok for blacks. Sick and tired of hearing when a person of color should and should not protest, where and when.
Thumps up for the entire NFL organization to stand united against this looser bully so called president.
When and where is nobody's call except those who are involved as long as they obey the law, not some internal 'rules'.
