So I am thinking about changing my name but haven't make it official yet. On the paperwork I submitted I put my maiden name as I haven't  change my name yet. What do I need to do once I receive my green card to change my name? How do I actually make my name change legal at all? Just change it with the SSA? Then if my green card is in my maiden name, I get it changed? Or just keep the one with my married name?

Finally posted our package yesterday! A little nervous, with so many pages, that I might have missed something - but I guess that's what RFEs are for?  I don't think an RFE will slow this down any more than the snail's pace I am expecting anyway. Minnesota has the slowest processing times in the US.

In the meantime I have opened a bank account, applied for my SSN and now I am about to start reseraching options for work - (anticipating that my EAD will take until December/January to come through).

Is anybody else exhausted?  So many people asked me if I was excited to be moving, to be getting married, to be starting a new life...  To be honest, I just wanted to be on the other side of the 'excitement' as it has been so stressful.  I am looking forward to a couple of quiet (but broke) months before normal liffe resumes and I have to trudge out in the snow to work...

I'm worried about an RFE too...I looked though the paperwork at least 6 times before mailing it, but still I am an overly worried person by nature haha

The whole moving to a new country, getting married, gathering the numerous documents for AOS is certainly exhausting. I wasn't even the one who made the move (I'm the K1 petitioner), but now that he is here I need to do a lot of additional work by staying organized, explaining all of the details numerous times to my family and friends, and trying to help him adjust to a country that is so much different than the one that he is from.

If you are going through the visa process and will be interviewing in Casablanca, Morocco, join us over at the

Hey Chelleyandaaron!

Good to see you here! We used to be mates in Nov k-1 2016 Filer :D

It has been very tough for me and my wife since I moved here in May. Adjustments, got married, money getting dry. haha All I want is to start working to help out with financial issues (Wife is very exhausted). Reason why we couldn't submit AOS on time is also cos of $$$ issues but we finally made it! It's not easy but it's good I'm right by my wife's side this time. Unlike 129f when everything has to get done overseas.

Lets hope this process will be fast. I know it's like non-stop waiting game but it's worth it!

Congrats for sending the package by the way! :D

Helloooo!

and we will all get through this! Isn't it ironic - it costs so much to file that this places additional financial stress on the whole situation and can delay the process whist gathering the funds - which means it takes even longer to start work!  I am going to start looking now that the package has been sent.  I have seen lots of posts on other threads about getting the EAD expedited if you get a job offer!  So... maybe I'll find something and get permission to start sooner rather than later. We are about to buy the house we have been renting but it is going to cost another $300 a month for the mortgage so i need to work - now! x

Exactly Chelly!

Especially if you live pay check to pay check.

Been reading threads too! 75 days period we could start chasing USCIS to expedite ead even tho you don't have job offer yet. But Im planning to expedite, got to work soon!

Happy for you to getting your own place :)
