Hi everyone,

I am super confused and getting very little information from our consulate. Generally, when you have been approved for an expedite - who schedules the interview? The applicant or the consulate?

I am asking because when i log in, all is see is dates 2-3months out and wondering if they do something from their end?

Thanking you in advance.

Technically the consulate will tell you that they will let you know when to schedule the interview. However after my case got expedited I went ahead and scheduled our interview and the consulate said that its not valid because I wasn't given notification to schedule it and I shouldn't have.  Other people who had their cases expedited told me to just have my husband go on to the interview and he'll be fine. We did exactly that and everything worked out fine.

If you need an earlier date trying reaching out to the consulate and see if they have one available. Our interview was one month out after our expedite request was approved.

Wow, you certainly got lucky with the dates! 2-3 months out seems ridiculous for a consulate that has so few immigrant visa volumes.

Congrats on the approval.

We just went through this whole thing with JHB. Pick the soonest date available to you and then just keep checking each day to see if a new date opens up. You can change the date of the appointment as many times as you want. We changed ours about  five or six times. If anyone cancels of changes theirs the date will become available. Initially our date was Sept 26 but then Aug 24 randomly opened up. I was checking at least ten times a day. Good luck!

Thank you. They eventually emailed and gave me one for the 21st. (Clearly, they are not consistent in their process)

How was your interview? and how soon after did you get your passport?

The interviewer only asked why were were going to America, and my husband and kids were there so he asked if they were my kids. And that was it. The interview was on a Thursday the passport was ready for pickup the Tues after that.
