Help filling out form I-130 & I-485 (number of marriages)

My wife came to the states on a Visa waiver program in June and we just got married in court here in NJ a few days ago.

 

We are applying for her adjustment of status and had a question filling out the forms.  

 

On form I-130, it asks me (petitioner) how many times I have been married.  My current marriage is my first marriage so do I put "1"  or are they asking about any previous marriages (which is none)?

 

Similarly on form I-485 part 5, it asks my wife (beneficiary) her marital history:  "How many times have you been married (including annulled marriages and marriages to the same person)?  This is her first marriage as well so does she put "1"?

 

got me confused a bit.  please chime in if you know the answer.  My guess is to put "1" for current marriage.

Another question, on the I-130 Part 4 item 61.a and b asks for the city and state of the USCIS office.

I live in NJ so do I put Newark? or Chicago lockbox?

I'm a US citizen sponsoring my wife for AOS and we are filing out the following forms: I-485, I-130, I-130a, I-765, I-131, I-693.

 

Do I mail all those forms are together to the Chicago lockbox location? (we live in NJ)

 

Can I use a personal check to pay for the fees or does it have to be certified bankers check?  Can I used money order from a post office?

 

Lastly, any tips on what type of envelope to send all those forms and documents in?   I'm not sure if all the paperwork will fit in a USPS Express mail envelope.

You can send them all together in one envelop to the same address. 

I used personal check ( that way I could keep track on when the cashed the check) and a big padded envelope. Our package contained three applications so I used that type of envelope. Otherwise I would have used just a manila envelope.

Yes, you mail all the forms to Chicago.

 

Yes, you can use USPS money order. Don't forget the biometrics fee of $85.

 

You'll need to find a sturdy envelope that can fit everything in. If you can find a big padded envelope, great! If you can't find anything that's big enough, then I'd suggest that you pack your paperwork in a box for shipping.

Also....send separate checks, one for each application amount (+ biometric fee where applicable).   On each check, write the application # in the memo line so you don't get confused.  Don't send one huge check with everything combined.

 

Separate each application and its supporting documents with a big rubber band around everything so there's no confusion on the part of whomever receives your package, too, of "what goes with which application".

Yeah u can use personal  check so you track  ur money. Just clip everything together dnt forget the passport style photos and to print your wife name behind don't forget to sign ur documents .

 

You can go to the mailing place u wish to send ur package with and they will put  ur package  in big brown evenlope for you all you have to do is give them the addres there sending the package to. God luck with ur documents  all the  best😊 keep us posted on  ur process.

Do bear in mind that your wife will be unable to leave the country for several months also. Since she didn't intend to stay, I imagine there are a lot of things she has to take care of back in South Korea.
