1 Year Extension Expiring

The 1 year extension on my husband's I-751 is about to be up. I have called USCIS several times and been assured that his actual status remains the same until his case is reviewed but they will not issue any documentation saying this unless we make an appointment with the local field office. Has any one done this already? Its seems that the California Service Center is at least 5 months behind.

It takes about 12 to 18 months for ROC to be approved these days, so yes, many people wait longer than the validity of the extension letter. You can get an infopass at your local field office to get a stamp in your passport that proves your legal status, but its not required. Get one if you need one (for travel etc).

He can and should make an Infopass appointment to obtain an I-551 stamp in his passport.

 

Given today's current political climate towards immigrants, I would not want to be without valid proof of LPR status if it were readily available to me.
